Parterres
Low box, pale gravel, a pattern meant to be read from the terrace. Each bed is a sentence. Together they are a page.
A parterre is not a flowerbed. It is a drawing held in living wood, clipped so the line stays true from spring to frost. From the terrace the scrolls lock into symmetry. On the ground they become a walk with no shortcut.
Verdigris takes its first notes from this geometry: galbanum and iris for the cold of the gravel, a green bitterness for the box, a mineral drydown for stone still wet from the night. Parterre d’Eau is that walk, bottled.
